Take the Behavior Exchange Poll

“The Behavior Exchange Challenge”Explained

file0001179129151We all want to be happy, but sometimes we don’t realize we get in our own way. For the month July we’re inviting you to join us in “The Behavior Exchange Challenge.” The Challenge will help us become aware of negative behaviors, and work on exchanging them with better habits to help us live a less stressful, happier life.

We all have things about ourselves we would like to change. Some of them we’re aware of, and some of them have become so much of a habit, they seem as routine as breathing. Criticizing the woman across the room – even though you don’t now her; flipping off the driver next to you because he entered your lane and you’re in a bad mood; telling yourself you’re an idiot because you made a mistake at work. You may do some of these, or none of these, but everybody has some self-defeating issues that make them unhappy, stressed, and generally make life more difficult than it should be.

After reading “22 Habits of Unhappy People” and discussing what traits each of us has (Barb & Lee), we decided to do some work on ourselves. The more we talked, the more we realized that this could be a wonderful self-awareness and change provoking examination/experiment that we could expand to include YOU!

This July, we invite you to join us on your own examination to determine which habits you may have, and what happens if you devote 30 Days to change those habits. Barb and I will be right there every step of way journaling on middleSage, tweeting, and posting on the middleSage Facebook page to let you know how we’re doing, where we’re falling short, what strides we are making. We encourage you to join us and find out how positive behavior changes can enhance your life and make it better.

 To get started:

– Sign up to be a member of middleSage if you aren’t already (www.middleSage.com).

Read the article “22 Habits of Unhappy People”

– Download and print the worksheet that will allow you to keep a record of your responses to the poll as you take it. This will also be your worksheet that identifies the Behaviors you wish to change, your Personal Resolutions how you will reach your GOAL of changing the behavior

– Take the poll at the beginning of your 31-Day Challenge (and the end so you can compare) and keep a record of your answers

Many behaviors are ingrained in us since we’ve practiced them for so long. Change is never easy because it requires us to step into unfamiliar territory. But we’re confident we can replace those self-defeating behaviors with healthier, more positive behaviors. We’re on our way, one day at a time. Join us for 30 Days of “The Behavior Exchange Challenge.”
