Do You Know Thyself? Questions to Ask Yourself

I loved this piece by Gretchen Rubin on self awareness published over at Psych Central!  Now, in my mid 50′s, and trying to discover what I really want to be when I grow up, Gretchen really delivers the tools to get to the REAL answers.  I’ve long held the belief that the key to finding the right answers lies in asking the right questions. Enjoy the article! And let us know if you think she might have missed some questions.  How […]

Stephen Kellogg: Talented Musician, Positive Thinker, TEDx Speaker

images

Last Sunday, my hushband and I went to eTown Hall in Boulder to hear The Alternate Routes and Stephen Kellogg. Kellogg performed acoustically, and in between incredibly insightful, heartfelt, and thought-provoking songs he talked a bit about his view on life. He also mentioned he was a TEDx speaker. Do yourself a favor when you have 18 minutes of time this weekend and listen, really listen, to what Kellogg says, and more importantly, how he lives his life.

Hidden Messages in Water…Hidden messages in you

images

The book is called “The Hidden Messages in Water“.  It was featured in the Movie “What the Bleep do we Know” and it wasn’t hard to connect the dots between this book and my life. The Book explains the research performed by Dr. Masaru Emoto in Japan.  By writing both positive and negative messages on different water samples from the same source, the water appears to “change its expression”.  Dr. Emoto developed a technique using a very powerful microscope in a very cold room […]

Let go of the bad relationships already!

images-6

I am borrowing this from a Facebook posting I saw from Science is Madness. It resonated SO much for me and how we all proceed into adulthood leaving behind (or often times carrying with us) a string of abusive, narcissistic and/or toxic relationships. The effects of these relationships create varied and deep emotional responses and behavioral patterns in all of us. God knows I’ve got my share of baggage….. But here we are adults, able to make our own decisions….maintain […]

Happiness….it’s just like spaghetti sauce

Malcolm Gladwell is a master storyteller and a brilliant author.  My thoughts after watching this funny and interesting story are… happiness is defined differently by each human being….I need to focus on what makes ME happy and not something predefined by other people.  So what if I’m conventional! I know I can’t do one thing to make everyone happy….the trick is to really know the people in my inner circle and know what really makes them happy. One big gesture […]

Five steps to reinventing yourself

This is a reblog from:  http://tinybuddha.com/blog/5-steps-to-reinvent-yourself/ Editor’s Note: This is a guest contribution by Melissa Kirk Change means reinvention. Each time a major shift happens in our lives—leaving a job or a relationship, moving, losing a loved one—we have to take control of who we will become or risk never reaching our full potential. I’ve reinvented myself several times in my life. Most adults have. But what I always forget is that we have to choose reinvention. Each time I’ve […]

12 Things to know before letting go

The following post is a reblog from Marc and Angel Hack Life Oftentimes letting go has nothing to do with weakness, and everything to do with strength.  We let go and walk away not because we want the universe to realize our worth, but because we finally realize our own worth. And that’s what this short article is all about – realizing your worth, and harnessing this realization to identify the negative ideas, habits, and people in your life that […]

Vulnerability a measurement of courage by Brene Brown

I’ve become a fan of *Brene Brown!  This follow up video to “The Gift of Imperfections” might just be my favorite! As a recovering “invisible daughter of a narcissistic mother” I played with the rule of thumb, a good offense is the best defense.  In other words, I had come to realize a few years ago I had developed the characteristic of being on the attack when I thougt someone was treating me much like my mother did.  It didn’t […]
