Since I retired my closet is a reflection of a whole new life. Gone are the pencil skirts, high heels and jackets. Instead a cotton tee in almost every color…I have them in short sleeves and long sleeves. I have cotton skirts …. of course in coordinating colors with all those tees. My pants are limited to a couple of favorite jeans and a pair of great fitting black pants.
I’m not a fan of laundry – it’s been known to happen to have clean clothes fresh out of the dryer in the laundry basket for a day or two. Don’t judge! The ironing board has been put where the sun don’t shine….the closet. I’ve been known to wash the whole load again just to get rid of the wrinkles. I prefer my clothes to be free of winkles and I don’t really subscribe to the “It’ll hang out” theory.
I have found a way to accomodate my lazy laundry rituals and my need for smooth fitting cotton attire. It’s a secret weapon against wrinkles (on your clothes anyway). I began this new ritual with a bottle of Downy “wrinkle releaser”. I’d spray all my tee’s and cotton clothes after I’ve dried them and they sat in the laundry basket. The wrinkles in the clothes would just fall out with a good shake and looked freshly pressed! You just have to wait for the garment to dry again on the hanger. That illusive bottle of wrinkle releaser became harder and harder to find and was pretty expensive.
I needed a solution and I found one!
I set out to find a way to make my own wrinkle releaser and have succeeded.
Here’s the “recipe”
Fill one large spray bottle with water. Fill it about 1/4 cup away from the top. (for god’s sake don’t measure it – it’s just an eyeball thing)
Next pour in 2 tablespoons of Downy. (Again, this is an eyeball thing – no need to measure)
Give it a little shake and you’re ready to start spraying your clothes.
I hang up all my wrinkled clothes and then lightly spray them down on both sides with my homemade wrinkle releaser. Give the item a good shake….
Hang them up in your closet and the next day all the clothes are dry and wrinkle free. Clothes just hang better when they’re free of wrinkles.
Another benefit? I always smell April Fresh!
